Get a unique and close-up insight into village life during this community trek. The community trek leads you to Mohare Hill, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri and Macchapuchhre. This off the beaten track leads through a pristine and unspoilt area. Meet the local farmers, yak herders and village communities and enjoy their hospitality. Experience the local culture, lifestyle and traditions.
During the community trek you stay in cozy community-run ecolodges and homestays and get treated to home-cooked meals. The trek helps to support the community in a real sense, ensuring most of the economic benefit stays with the local people.
After an early breakfast you drive to the starting point of the community trek, in Galeshwor, along the Kali Gandaki river. From here you start your climb to Bas Kharka on stone stairs, past rice fields and orange trees. In Bas Kharka you can wander around the town. You overnight in a lovely homestay and eat local food with the family.
Start the day with a nice Nepali breakfast. Today you walk through rhododendron forests, with great mountain views on the way. Have some lunch in Danda Kaske and continue walking for another 3 hours to Nangi. Nangi is known for it’s paper, which the locals make out of local plants. Close to your lodge they dry the paper and you can buy some. The village is completely self sufficient. Overnight in an eco-lodge, run by the local community.
Get up early for a beautiful sunrise view. You can see Dhaulagiri from here. After breakfast you wave to the kids and start the longest, hardest day. You climb 1100 meters through rhododendron forests. Today’s trek varies between open fields and mystic forests. On top of Mohare Danda (Mohare Hill) you have some spectacular views of the Annapurna range!
Today is a short trek, with a lot of free time. It’s worth to get up early for the sunrise view of the Annapurnas. After some breakfast, you descend for about two hours to the lodge in Danda Kharka. This area is full of different bird species. Take a rest from the day before and enjoy the beautiful views.
If you like to shorten your trek, you can walk straight through to Tikot
Today will be a long descend. Walk over a mountain ridge, with great views on both sides. End the day in the most charming village, Tikot. The ancient slate-roofed houses are close together, with chicken, goats and cows mixed with the villagers. You overnight in a homestay, where you get a delicious Nepali meal.
Today is the last short trek. After a nice Nepali breakfast, you start descending for about 2,5 hours to Tiplyang. Have a well deserved cold drink before you drive back to Pokhara, where your trip ends.
Note: The itinerary is a guide only and may be subject to change
The climate in Nepal changes with hight and season, varying between -100 on the high treks and 300 on the lower treks, so you need to bring a variety of clothes to Nepal
