Mardi Himal lies east of Annapurna Base Camp, at 4,500 meters. From here you can see breathtaking views of Annapurna range and Hiunchuli. The trail leads through rhododendron forests with great views of the mountains throughout. This off the beaten trek to Mardi Himal varies from cattle grazing fields to snowcapped mountains, small charming villages, and rhododendron forests.

Day 1 – Briefing and preparation

Day 2 – Drive to Khande (45 minutes) and trek to Deurali (4 hours)

Day 3 – Trek to Forest Camp (7 hours)

Day 6 – Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp and back to High Camp (8 hours)

Day 1 – Briefing and preparation

Day 2 – Drive from Pokhara to Khande (45 minutes) and trek to Deurali (4 hours)

Drive for about 45 minutes from Pokhara to the starting point in Khande. Start your trek with a steep climb, past some local villages, to Australian Basecamp. Here you stop for some lunch. From here you will already have some great views of the Annapurna mountain range. A more gentle climb will take you to Deurali, where we stay for the night.

Day 3 – Trek to Forest Camp (6-7 hours)

Most of today’s trek is a steep uphill climb, through jungles and with beautiful views on the way. You might be able to spot some wildlife, like deer, monkeys and many kinds of birds. Overnight in Forest Camp.

Day 4 – Trek to Badal Dada (4-5 hours)

Today is a shorter walk through rhododendron forests. It is again an steep climb to the top, where you will have breathtaking views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

Day 5 – Trek to High Camp (6-7 hours)

Also this day’s trek will be a bit shorter. Arrive at High Camp for lunch. On the way up you will still have beautiful views of the Annapurna range, with Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre looking like they’re close enough to touch.

Day 6 – Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp and back to High Camp (8 hours)

Wake up early for some spectacular sunrise mountain views. After breakfast, you climb up to Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,500 meters. This is a challenging day, with narrow, rocky trails. From Mardi Himal, you have the most spectacular views. If the weather is clear, you will get to see up close Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gargapurna, Khangsar, Annapurna III and Machhapuchhre. It will be worth the long and difficult hike!

Day 7 – Trek to Siding Village (7 hours)

Retrace your steps down to Low Camp and then walk through some dense forests towards Mardi Khola, to Siding Village.

Day 8 – Trek to Lumre and drive back to Pokhara (3 hours)

On this last day, you walk down for about 1,5 hours to Mardi Khola in Lumre, where your transport will be waiting. Take a 2 hour drive back to Pokhara, you will be back in time for lunch.
