2 Days
Grade II/III+
Tent
Whole year
Lower Seti is a great river to introduce you to whitewater rafting and is perfect for beginners and families, since it’s a small and relatively warm river. There is plenty of time to jump in the water and swim. The river passes through beautiful sceneries, offering a variety of landscapes, rice fields, waterfalls, jungle, beaches and small local villages. You overnight in a tent on the beach. The trip ends near Chitwan National Park and is a nice alternative to traveling by bus.
Day 1 – Drive to Damauli and start rafting
Day 2 – Rafting and finish at Gaighat
Note: Since the Seti river comes underneath from Pokhara, it is a relatively warm river. During the flat waters you can enjoy jumping in the water, splashing, swimming or even trying to catch some fish. For your safety, make sure you keep listening to the instructions of your guide and stay close to the raft.
We depart early in the morning for a (maximum) two-hour drive to the put-in point below Damauli. Once at the river, we unload all the gears, provide you with drybags to keep your things safe and dry and inflate the raft. Feel free to help the guides, it will be a good warm-up for the rafting. The guides then tie all the equipment into the rafts. When all preparations are done, everyone is fitted with a lifejacket and helmet. Then the trip leader and safety kayaker give an extensive safety briefing, explaining how to paddle and what to do if you fall out from the raft.
As you go down the river you can practice the paddle demands in the flat water. The first grade III rapid will give you a good whitewater experience and makes you more excited for the coming rapids.
On the way we will make a stop to have a nice lunch. After around 4 to 5 hours of rafting we stop at the campsite for overnight. On this beautiful beach we will set up the camp, you can unpack your stuff and warm yourself while the guides prepare dinner.
The next morning after breakfast we will get back on the raft. On this second day of rafting there are some more exciting grade III+ rapids for about two hours. Here we meet he Trishuli river, which is a lot colder than the Seti. Your trip ends at Gai Ghat (near Chitwan) around lunch time. You will be provided with lunch, before you will be transferred to your next destination. We will arrange a bus for you back to Pokhara, Kathmandu or Chitwan.
